I went for a run the other day and thought that I was going really well.
At least it felt better than most of the other runs I have done recently. And yet I have felt good when I was running on the track.
But when I looked at my watch at the half way point it was slow.
About the same speed as the previous run in fact.
The one when I felt like I had never run before!
The final time was over 31 minutes, practically the same as the previous run. This is a run I should do in less than 30 minutes, low 28 on a good day.
I had to think of an excuse, and fast.
The only explanation I can come up with at the moment is because I have neglected my stretching at night before I go to bed. There is no legitimate excuse for that.
But, I have been trying a different stretching regime for the last few months, and that, along with the Christmas decline in fitness, has probably caused this reduction in form.
So it will be interesting to see how quickly my times improve if I start stretching every night before bed.
