4 Reasons Why I’m Thankful For Running

The other day when I was out on a long run – I got to thinking about all the wondering things about running and what it has done for me. I am just so grateful for my running and the fact that I’ve been running all these years. Here are some of the major reasons that I’m grateful running.

1. Running has kept me healthy for over 30 years. Throughout the years that I’ve been running, I acknowledge that my good health is a direct result of my running. I have very few colds, no major illnesses and overall bone health for a woman over 50.

2. Running gives me energy to handle everything that life throws at me. Though some people don’t believe it – running gives you energy. My run first thing in the morning gives me the energy that I need to handle everything in my crazy life. Between my online business, our restaurant business, taking care of our house, and taking care of my husband after his surgeries – I need to have energy. Plus, I go out of town to visit my Mom weekly to do things for her and make sure that she’s doing alright. I’m positive that I would not be able to do everything without an abundance of energy – and I know that running gives me that energy.

3. Running is my therapy. My time out on the roads daily gives me time to think. I’m able to work through things that I’m having problems with, I get ideas of things to do for my business – and I’m able to literally run away and forget about troubles and end up working through them. When my Dad died – my running was definitely a great help in helping me through that. And, running shoes are certainly cheaper than a therapist!

4. Running gets me out of the cold in the winter. Every year I plan a destination race in January or February. I plan for a marathon or half-marathon in Florida. Luckily, my husband supports me in this! We get to get out of cold and snow for a week or 2 – and I get to run a really great race!

Everyone has their own reasons why they are thankful for their running. The important thing is to remember them – and to always be grateful! These are my big 4 reasons.
