It’s been a long time since I last wrote a post so here’s one to get me started again.
Not that I haven’t done anything lately, I’ve done lots lately, but I haven’t written any of it down, which is very naughty of me, I know, and defeats the object of blogging. But there is plenty in my head so I will try to get some of it down here for your entertainment and information.
You might find this experience of mine useful and it may encourage you to do more stretching.
Thursday evening I managed to get an hour between the showers and did a satisfying track session. I did three sets of shuttle runs 20m,40m,60m,40m,20m with a jog back interval. I don’t know if it was because I ran around the bend in lane 5 , but it felt really good; like it should be, so I went home happy.
The first thing I did wrong was not to warm down properly because the rain started again. Then I did nothing the following day partly because it was raining and partly because I was still feeling tired.
Saturday I went for one of my normal runs of about 4 miles which takes around 30 minutes.
The week before I felt good and it took 29:34
This week I could hardly move I was so stiff and it took 31:37
I did some (or at least attempted some) stretching exercises when I got home and could not get my hands anywhere near the floor. I could barely do any of my usual stretching exercises! And this was after a run when it is usually easier.
The moral of the story is: do not neglect your stretching, especially when you are tired.
